**UIAGM/IFMGA Mountain Guide from Spain** I’m based in Bilbao, in the Basque country. This region has plenty of possibilities for mountain programs, which are not so popular, and I really like to guide people in the area. And I also work a lot in the Pyrenees, which are just a 3-hour drive from Bilbao. For me, to guide is to share an experience and a moment in the mountain. The mountain is a place where to live and feel experiences that are hard to explain, but is also important to understand it: without a solid knowledge it is complicated to remain safe in a mountain environment. A guide won’t guarantee total safety, but is there to identify and manage risks. The way I see it, a famous peak hides several unnamed peaks, which are probably more remote, less visited, but equally beautiful. So it’s important to know why is it that we go to the mountains.
