IFMGA / UIAGM Mountain guide from Bulgaria I was born in Poprad and I grew up in Nova Lesna a small village on the foot of the High Tatras. My father used to be a passionate skier, mountaineer and a voluntary member of the mountain rescue team. As a keen skier he put me on skis when I was 3 and at the age of 5 I already skied down Lomnicke sedlo. I couldn’t imagine a weekend without skis. At the university I first discovered the beauty of sport climbing and this resulted in many difficult climbing routes mainly in the High Tatras. Here are some of them: Durana – Pochyly route in Galeria Ganku or Cima Grande’s Diretissima. We also succeeded in couple valuable first ascents. I love ice climbing or mixed climbing in winter as well. There is another passion though that exceeds all the above mentioned and it’s freeride. As a guy who grew up in the mountains with passion for sport and sense of nature at the same time, always surrounded by mountain professionals, I couldn’t go different way. I simply love mountains and sports related to it. The mountain guide profession reflects my philosophy. Experience is much more valuable for me than performance. That is why I decided to share my experience and become UIAGM mountain guide. It’s a unique opportunity to spend time in the mountains, meet people with the same passion and move on.
